About the locations
7 schools – 4 cities. It’s up to you to decide whether you want to learn Japanese in a huge metropolis like Tokyo or between mountains and breathtaking landscapes.
Tokyo
ISI operates three Tokyo schools in central, well-connected neighborhoods.
The main Takadanobaba campus sits near Shinjuku and is surrounded by language cafés—great spots to meet locals and practice Japanese.
The Harajuku/Shibuya campus is a short walk from the famed Takeshita-dori shopping street, and the Ikebukuro campus is especially appealing for anime fans thanks to the area’s vibrant pop-culture scene.
Kyoto & Osaka
In Kansai you get the best of two worlds: Kyoto’s timeless, low-rise neighborhoods and calm pace, and Osaka’s lively, food-loving metropolis vibe. The two cities sit just about 15 minutes apart by Shinkansen, so it’s easy to enjoy both—quiet temple streets one day, neon arcades and street food the next. You’ll hear the friendly Kansai dialect around town while studying standard Japanese in class. Weekend side trips to Nara, Kobe, or Wakayama are a breeze thanks to excellent transport links.
Nagano
Not a fan of big cities? Are you drawn to Japan’s natural beauty and landscapes instead? Then the campus in Nagano is perfect for you!
Nestled away from Japan’s bustling urban centers, Nagano Prefecture allows you to fully focus on your Japanese studies—and save significantly compared to Tokyo and Kyoto!
