Which program is right for me?
Travel to Japan once and really get to know the language, the country, and the people — but you’re not sure which program suits you best? The info below explains in just 60 seconds which program best fits your life and financial situation.
Study Program
A study stay lets you travel to Japan on a student visa for up to 2 years and learn Japanese at a language school until you’re fluent. To get a student visa, you don’t have to be a university student — and you don’t need a high school diploma either. For a study stay, though, you do need to have time, because you’re not planning a simple vacation, but a multi-year stay abroad.
Language Program
A language stay is right for you if you only want to travel to Japan for a few weeks or up to a year. If you’re under 31, you can plan a stay of up to 12 months with a Working Holiday visa. If you’re older, longer stays of up to 6 months can still be arranged with a tourist visa. A language stay also lets you mix travel and school — so you don’t have to study Japanese continuously and can choose a shorter period.
Learn Japanese online
If you want to learn Japanese but don’t have the time or desire to travel to Japan, our online course is the ideal solution for you. Our videos teach you Japanese grammar — and you then reinforce what you’ve learned with interactive exercises. If anything is unclear, you can reach our language trainers personally at any time via the Sensei chat.

With our programs, you’ll receive round-the-clock supervision from us while attending Japanese lessons at our partner school five days a week. Study Japanese at one of many language schools across the country, such as ISI in Tokyo, Kyoto, or Nagano.

Starting as a small startup in Heidelberg, we initially organized study abroad programs for Japanese students in Germany and are now also present locally in Japan. With Nipponcademy, our services are now also aimed at German-speaking individuals who have little to no experience abroad. We are an official partner of various language schools in Japan. During your stay, you will attend three hours of Japanese lessons daily at your school and then have the opportunity to explore the country on your own or earn extra money with a part-time job.
